I am a graduate student in the Department of English with a lot of research interests, including multi-ethnic Black identity formation, critical whiteness studies, Victorian British novels, and early-1990s hip-hop. Before moving back to Iowa City at the age 35, I lived many other lives all across the country, including as a college radio music director at Iowa State University and a music journalist and failed copy editor in Seattle Washington. In addition to working at the Writing Center, I currently teach Rhetoric 1030—the Zoom Edition! I live with my partner, Stephanie, and my two sons, Boo and Franz.
