Intro
The Community Writing Center reopens on Tuesday, August 27 at the Coralville Public Library and Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Iowa City Library
We offer walk-in appointments in Room 6 of the Coralville Public Library every Tuesday from 4-6 pm and in the second floor meeting room of the Iowa City Public Library every Monday and Thursday evening from 6-8 pm.
The Community Writing Center offers one-on-one writing assistance to Johnson County community members working on ANY kind of writing project:
- job applications materials, including resumes and cover letters
- school assignments, scholarship essays, college application essays, and materials
- emails, social media posts, website content
- letters of all kinds, including to judges, immigration officials, parole officers and landlords
- autobiographical writing, family histories, and local history projects
- speeches and presentations
- creative writing: short stories, books, plays, poetry
- basic Microsoft Word and web navigation skills related to writing
The Community Writing Center is staffed and funded by the University of Iowa Writing Center and Kirkwood Community College.
