Title: Nothing About Us Without Us: Creating Patient-Reported Outcome Measures with People Who Stutter

Speaker: Naomi Rodgers, PhD, CCC-SLP

In honor of International Stuttering Awareness Day, this seminar takes up a core principle of the disability rights movement: research about a community should be shaped by that community. Patient-reported outcome measures shape how we define success in clinic and research, yet many measures fail to capture what matters most to the people they are meant to serve. In this talk, we will walk through the mixed methods process of measure development, from defining a construct through psychometric evaluation, using examples from my own projects with people who stutter. Attendees will leave with a practical, step-by-step roadmap for building measures with, not just for, the communities they support.
