Deirdre Egan is the Associate Director of the University of Iowa Writing Center. She has a PhD from the University of Iowa's Department of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies where she studied the intersections of science, race and gender. She manages the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center and is responsible, with Director Carol Severino, for program development, communication and outreach, TA supervision and training, and annual reports. She provides individual consultations on writing for students and faculty and contributes to research on writing development and writing across the curriculum. She co-directs the Teaching with Writing Obermann Working Group, and is on the executive board of Iowa City Darwin Day.
